We provide diverse expertise in medical oncology, radiation oncology and hematology. We are continually adding new and proven therapies to the scope of care that we provide. We offer patients the latest treatment options through clinical trials programs established with the National Cancer Institute and pharmaceutical industry researchers. |
| |
 |
We treat patients with immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, conventional chemotherapy and radiation therapy. We also coordinate physical therapy, counseling, and complementary and alternative therapies that have proven effective in providing relief from the rigors of demanding cancer treatments. |

Medical oncology is the study and treatment of cancer. Treatments include chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, and biological therapy (sometimes called immunotherapy). Most of these treatments include drugs that are injected into the body through the veins, taken by mouth, or injected under the skin or into the muscles. |

Radiation oncology is the study and treatment of cancers using ionizing radiation (an intense form of energy). Ionizing radiation attacks cells by harming their genetic material. This interferes with their ability to grow and multiply. Radiation technology at the UCS Cancer Center is state-of-the-art. We are one of a few centers in the nation to have the capability of Varian Respiratory Gating and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). IMRT enables us to prescribe the highest necessary dose of radiation with the greatest protection of healthy tissue and critical organs. |

Hematology is the medical science addressing diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs. Treatments may include transfusions, hormonal therapy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. |

A unique aspect of our practice, Patient Advocates work directly with each patient throughout their treatment to assure continuity of care and full coordination of all insurance benefits and resources. They coordinate your treatments, alternative and complementary therapies, and insurance coverage. Where necessary, they also arrange financial assistance, emotional support and education for patients and their families. |

In partnership with the Utah Cancer Foundation, we coordinate educational and supportive services designed to help patients cope with the emotional issues, physical rigors and life-changes accompanying their diagnosis and treatment. These include stress, depression, pain, anxiety, weight change, body image, sexual function and other relevant topics. When appropriate, we also help arrange hospice and comfort care.
